The coronavirus outbreak has led to increased media consumption in many counties around the world, and on the weekend of March 13 to 14, 2020, time spent streaming TV and video grew by more than 40 percent in Austria and Spain, and by 32 percent in Germany. Efforts to stem the spread of the virus include social distancing, self-isolation, and quarantining when ill, and with many individuals in Europe and the United States seeking in-home entertainment, given their popularity it was inevitable that VOD platforms would see an uptick in usage during the outbreak.
